Behind the build
A year in the planning, six months to build, more than 1000 images shot, 20,000 words written - and Emily's new website went live on 17thApril 2019.
The brief to design the new site was handed to the talented team at Nixon Design in Hayle in the summer of 2018. Emily is also a director at Nixon Design - her husband Martin Nixon's branding agency. Occupying the floor above our studio in White's Warehouse, their expertise was close at hand! We asked them “to create a luxurious and elegant online shop - showcasing the distinctive character of Emily’s naturally irregular, coastal inspired, fine jewellery.”
Nixon drilled down into everything we do – from the moment Emily made her original Rock Drawing Necklace nearly twenty years ago to the foraged seaweed drying on her bench – they examined the bones of the brand - and set to work.
In a collaboration of design, photography, words and function (not to mention all the tea and biscuits) what followed brought together the essence of Emily Nixon jewellery.
We had over 300 pieces of jewellery to photograph, describe, measure and detail. Nixon's designers, alongside Emily, held the creative reins, whilst we navigated site maps, breadcrumbs, fonts, front ends, back ends, CMS, SEO.
The team at Nixon patiently steered our course, responding to our vision with a site that we are incredibly proud of. We hope you love it as much as we do.
